Davis has increased his points total in each of the games, tallying 16 against Ball State, 20 against Hofstra and a career-high 25 against Ohio. He leads the team with 20.3 points per game. That’s almost 15 points better than his average last season (5.8).

“Darrell just continues to blossom as a senior leader on our team,” Dayton coach Anthony Grant said Friday after a 79-65 victory against Ohio in the Charleston Classic. “He’s a guy that our guys look up to and look forward to competing with and competing for. I think he’s embracing the role.”

“I don’t too put too much pressure on myself,” Davis said. “I do what I’ve got to do for the team, whether that’s playing defense or scoring the basketball.”
