Dayton Flyers junior guard John Crosby won’t play Wednesday night against St. Joseph’s at Hagan Arena. He’s sick and didn’t travel with the team to Philadelphia.

It’s the second straight game Dayton has played short-handed. Kostas Antetokounmpo missed the game Saturday against Virginia Commonwealth with an illness. He is healthy and will play against the Hawks.

Crosby has averaged 5.4 points, 2.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 16 games.

Dayton has avoided major injuries in the first 17 games but has seen players miss time with injuries or illnesses. Trey Landers missed two games with a sprained ankle. Xeyrius Williams missed five games with a back injury. Matej Svoboda missed the season opener with an illness.

Freshman center Jordan Pierce also didn’t travel with the team to St. Joseph’s. It’s the second straight road game he has missed. According to UD spokesman, Pierce stayed home because it was determined it would be a better use of his time if he stayed on campus and concentrated on academics. He has appeared in only two games all season.
