Dayton Flyers hand out annual men’s basketball awards

The Dayton Flyers senior class shared the White-Allen Most Valuable Player Award for the 2016-17 season, UD announced Monday night.

Scoochie Smith, Charles Cooke, Kendall Pollard, Kyle Davis and Jeremiah Bonsu were honored for leading the Flyers to a second straight Atlantic 10 championship and the first outright league championship in school history. The senior class set a record with 102 victories in four seasons.

Here are the other annual awards:

Alex Schoen Free-Throw Percentage Award: Scoochie Smith (77.2).

John L. Macbeth Scholar-Athlete Award: Darrell Davis.

Dr. George Rau Spirit Award: Josh Cunningham and Kyle Davis.

"Shorty" Sharpenter Top Rebounder Award: Charles Cooke.

Chris Daniels Memorial Award for most improved player: Xeyrius Williams.

Thomas M. Luppe Memorial Award for top freshman: Trey Landers.
