The Dayton Flyers lost a secret scrimmage to Marquette at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday evening.

That's about all that is known at this point. Marquette posted a short clip to its Twitter account and said it won by a narrow margin.

The clip shows Dayton senior forward Kendall Pollard playing, and that’s good news for Dayton. He returned to practice earlier this month after two offseason surgeries but didn’t play in the Red and Blue Game on Oct. 22.

The NCAA allows Division I teams to play one scrimmage against each other, but they are not allowed to publicize the games or report final scores, though sometimes the scores do leak out. Dayton lost a scrimmage last season to Purdue and scrimmaged Illinois two years ago.

The Flyers return to action at 7 p.m. Friday against Findlay at UD Arena in their one public exhibition game. They open the season a week later at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 against Austin Peay.
