Fans of the Dayton Flyers shouldn’t have to wait as long as they did last year to find out the complete men’s basketball schedule.

UD released its full schedule on Sept. 6 in 2016. In 2015, the non-conference schedule came out on July 23. In 2014, UD released the non-conference schedule on Aug. 8.

Ten things to know about the A-10 schedule

Athletic Director Neil Sullivan said Thursday he hopes the late release last season was an aberration. There were problems scheduling the home game against Saint Mary’s. He doesn’t anticipate similar issues this summer.

“I would anticipate in the next few weeks we could have this wrapped up,” Sullivan said. “That would be the goal.”

Two non-conference games are known, though no dates have been announced. UD will play at Saint Mary's in Moraga, Calif. The Flyers will host Auburn this season and then play at Auburn in the 2018-19 season.

Dayton also will play three games in the Charleston Classic (Nov. 16, 17 and 19). Possible opponents include: Auburn, Clemson, Hofstra, Indiana State, Old Dominion, Ohio and Temple.

Some schools announce games as they are scheduled. Dayton prefers to release the entire schedule at once, though some games are known before that because some schools that are playing Dayton release their schedules first.

“Schedules are so fluid,” Sullivan said. “You might have a date with an opponent and then they call and ask, ‘Could you move this? I’ve got a chance to play here.’ It’s really like playing chess with games and dates and final exams. That’s really why we hold it and get it out all at once.”
