Dayton offers scholarship to three-star recruit in class of 2018

The Dayton Flyers offered a scholarship to Frankie Policelli, a 6-foot-8 small forward in the class of 2018, on Friday.

Policelli’s high school, Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.), announced the offer on Twitter. The team was playing at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Friday. He also received an offer from the Cincinnati Bearcats on the same day.

Rivals.com ranks Policelli No. 146 in the class of 2018. He ranks 168th, according to 247Sports.com. Both web sites list him as a three-star recruit.

Policelli took an official visit to another Atlantic 10 school, Georgia Washington, in October. Texas Tech offered him a scholarship in December. Numerous other schools have recruited him or offered scholarships.

Policelli is from New Hartford, N.Y., which is four hours from Long Island. He transferred to Long Island Lutheran for his senior year. He missed the second half of his junior season after undergoing knee surgery. He averaged 28.1 points and over 13 rebounds as a junior.
