Dayton Flyers junior forward Ryan Mikesell underwent surgery on his left hip Friday in Columbus.

“The surgery went well,” coach Anthony Grant said. “He’s at home for the weekend. Sometime next week he’ll get back on campus to start rehab.”

Mikesell, a St. Henry High School graduate, had surgery on his right hip on May 16. He was diagnosed with impingements in both hips in April.

The recovery process takes six months, which would mean Mikesell could return at the earliest in December.

“We’ll determine from there once we see how he progresses what the next step will be,” Grant said in April. “I think it would be premature to say one way or the other in terms of his status for next season. That’s all we know right now.”
