Former Flyer Chris Johnson to play in NBA Summer League

After season in D-League, Johnson gets chance with Indiana Pacers

Scoochie Smith and Charles Cooke won't be the only former Dayton Flyers playing in the NBA Summer League. The Indiana Pacers announced their summer league roster Tuesday, and Chris Johnson is on it.

Johnson, a 6-foot-6 forward, scored 1,467 points in his UD career (2008-12). He was a senior in 2011-12, Archie Miller’s first season.

Johnson, 27, made his NBA debut in 2013 with the Memphis Grizzlies. He also placed with the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks between 2013 and 2016. He averaged 4.4 points in 147 career games.

Last season, Johnson played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA D-League, averaging 13.5 points in 32 games. The Vipers play in Hidalgo, Texas.

The Pacers play in the Orlando Summer League. Here’s a look at their schedule:

July 1: Pacers vs. Magic, 1 p.m.

July 2: Pacers vs. Hornets, 5 p.m.

July 3: Pacers vs. Heat, 5 p.m.

July 4: Pacers vs. Mavericks, 3 p.m.
