Former Dayton Flyers starts advance in The Basketball Tournament

Three former Dayton Flyers played together Saturday for the first time since the Elite Eight in 2014, helping lead the Broad Street Brawlers to a 108-95 overtime victory over Trained To Go in The Basketball Tournament.

The Brawlers, who started Devin Oliver, Dyshawn Pierre and Vee Sanford, rallied from a double-digit deficit in the second half to force overtime and then dominated the overtime period.

Sanford led the team with 24 points. Pierre scored 22. Oliver had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Sammie Zeglinski, who played at Virginia from 2007-12, scored 23. The Brawlers made 26 of 30 free throws.

The No. 9 seed Brawlers advanced to the second round of the West Region in Las Vegas, Nev. They will play No. 1 seed Team Colorado at 3:45 p.m. Sunday. The Brawlers have to win five more games to claim the $2 million winner-takes-all prize.

Oliver and Sanford were seniors in 2013-14. Pierre was a sophomore that season.
