Parker hit .290 over 19 MLB seasons with seasons, including 11 years in Pittsburgh and four in Cincinnati. He totaled 339 home runs, 1,439 RBI and won two batting titles (1977-78). Parker was the 1978 NL MVP, a seven-time All-Star and won three Gold Glove awards in right field.
The Modern Baseball Era provides an avenue for Hall of Fame consideration to managers, umpires and executives, as well as players retired for more than 15 seasons.
The results of the vote will be announced on Dec. 10. Any candidate who receives 75 percent of the vote by the 16-member committee will be inducted in Cooperstown, N.Y. on July 29. They will join any electees from the 2018 Baseball Writers’ Association of America election to be announced Jan. 24, 2018.
