Injured Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green took the first small step toward his return today.

Green, who injured his hamstring Nov. 20 against Buffalo, showed up at practice 21 minutes after it began — and one minute after news cameras were required to stop filming — and headed to the side rehab field.

Wearing sweats and walking slowly, but without a limp, Green did some light drills during the remaining portion of the period open to the media.

Asked about Green’s status on Monday, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis called it “partly cloudy.”

It’s doubtful Green would be available Sunday against Philadelphia, but if he responds well to rehab work this week and can return to practice without any setbacks next week, the Dec. 11 game in Cleveland could be a possibility.
