Hinkle takes bronze medal at USRowing Youth National Championships

Megan Hinkle of the Greater Dayton Rowing Association took the bronze medal in the women’s Class A singles at the USRowing Youth National Championships on Sunday.

The Troy Christian product finished the 2,000-meter race in 7 minutes, 59.8 seconds, about nine seconds behind the winner. Hinkle, who will be a scholarship rower for the University of Michigan this fall, finished fourth last year.

The Dayton Boat Club also had a strong showing from its women’s varsity four team of Chloe Sutton (Centerville High School), Agatha Shafer (Oakwood), Rachel McNutt (Beavercreek) and Cassia Busch (Mason) along with coxswain Ella Mitchell (Fairmont). They finished fourth in a time of 7:18.2, about eight seconds out of first and three behind the bronze-medal-winning team.
