As far as life in the NBA, there is only one way to go for Luke Kennard.

The Franklin native did not play in the season-opener for the Detroit Pistons, who took the former Duke Blue Devil with a lottery pick last summer.

Why Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy did not chose to give Kennard his first NBA minutes as Detroit beat Charlotte on Wednesday night was not entirely clear, though one Hornets beat writer offered a clue on Twitter.

Van Gundy’s decision didn’t go over well with some fans.

Detroit’s next game is Friday night at the Washington Wizards.
