The Cincinnati Reds announced Tuesday they have acquired Peter O’Brien from the Kansas City Royals.

O’Brien, a right-handed hitting first baseman and outfielder, was sent to Triple-A Louisville.

To make room for him on the 40-man roster, the Reds moved right-handed starting pitcher Brandon Finnegan to the 60-day disabled list.

He has hit .176 in 36 major-league games after posting a slash line of .269/.317/.532 with 116 home runs in five minor-league seasons.

The Reds are his fourth pro organization.
