Dayton Flyers senior Scoochie Smith finished the Portsmouth Invitational on Saturday with the fourth most assists in the tournament.

Smith averaged 6.3 assists in three games in Portsmouth, Va. The tournament featured 64 of the top seniors from around the country.

Neither Smith nor teammate Charles Cooke shot the ball well. Smith averaged 7.0 points on 33.3 percent shooting. Cooke shot 22.9 percent and averaged 6.3 points.

Smith made 1 of 7 3-pointers. Cooke made 1 of 8.

Smith’s team, Mike Duman Auto Sales, finished 0-3. Cooke’s team, Cherry Bekaert, was 1-2 and beat Smith’s team 98-83 on Saturday.

Cooke had 10 points on 4-of-13 shooting with six rebounds, four assists and four turnovers in that game. Smith made 4 of 8 shots from the field and had nine points, four assists, three rebounds and three turnovers.

George Washington’s Tyler Cavanaugh was one of 11 players named to the all-tournament team.
