Scoochie Smith makes NBA Summer League debut

Former Dayton Flyers point guard Scoochie Smith made his NBA Summer League debut on Wednesday with the Boston Celtics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Smith did not play in the Celtics’ first game Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers but saw 15 minutes of action in their second game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Former Flyer makes MLS debut

Smith scored four points on 2-of-5 shooting. He had two rebounds, three assists, two turnovers and two steals. The Celtics lost 81-70.

Former Flyer Chris Johnson has appeared in three games for the Indiana Pacers. He's averaging 10.7 points per game. Dayton's Charles Cooke starts summer league play with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.

The Celtics play the Utah Jazz at 9 p.m. Thursday. Smith also had a highlight-reel assist Wednesday to Boston’s top draft pick, Jayson Tatum.
