Urban Meyer: ‘Not business as usual’ after loss

Buckeyes put loss to bed, move on to Northwestern

With the roar of the Penn State Nittany Lion still ringing in their ears — the roar played repeatedly at Beaver Stadium on Saturday night — the Ohio State Buckeyes got back to work Sunday.

The Buckeyes (6-1, 3-1) can't dwell on their 24-21 loss or their drop from No. 2 to No. 6 in the Associated Press poll. They have to prepare for an improved Northwestern (4-3, 3-1) coming to Ohio State for a 3:30 p.m. game Saturday.

“It’s not business as usual,” Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said. “We had a team meeting yesterday. A lot of them wanted to get back on the routine and get this stuff our of their system.”

Here are some other notes from Meyer’s weekly press conference Monday:

• On the offensive line: "I don't think we played our best game" Meyer said. "Conversations about any personnel changes usually go on today. I don't foresee that, but we need to improve."

• On the field-goal attempt that was blocked: "At the 29-yard line, options are pretty limited. You either go for it, or you punt down there and kick it through the end zone, and it's just a nine-yard game. We considered (punting), but our guy (Tyler Durbin) does that so well in practice."

• On whether this week is different because of the loss: "It's different. We have incredible leadership on our team. We'll move forward. We'll let it hurt for a while. If you lose a game, you're not a loser. If you lose a game, you accept it. That's the message to our players. It happened. Move on, and get ready for a very good team."
