Miamisburg High School junior offensive lineman Josh Myers has taken a strong Ohio State University recruiting Class of 2017 to the next level.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound guard became an instant social media sensation Tuesday after pressing 155 pounds in the snatch with a barbell loaded with weights above his head. Nothing unusual about that, except Myers did it with one arm.

“It was fun,” he said. “I did it when I was a freshman, too, but that was 135 pounds.”

He also maxed out with a 435-pound bench press and a 335-pound clean-and-jerk.

Bleacher Report shot the video last Friday and released it Tuesday. It was quickly picked up by The Huffington Post, among others.

“You just have to be careful with what kind of stuff gets on social media,” Miamisburg head coach Steve Channell said. “This was a good-natured exhibition of his strength that was recorded. It wasn’t meant in a bragging or bravado way. I don’t know what the numbers are on it but I guess it’s kind of exploded (on social media) so to speak.”

Myers was initially offered by OSU as a freshman and verbally committed to the Buckeyes as a sophomore last spring. He was the first in OSU’s recruiting class of 2017 to commit and is regarded as Ohio’s No. 1 senior lineman and among the nation’s top five by most recruiting services.

He hasn’t visited any other schools since verballing to OSU. Until then, most national college powers had his cell on speed dial.

“Things have died down a whole lot, actually,” Myers said. “The recruiting process has really died down for me. I’m pretty much just set on Columbus. It was really hectic for a while.”
