The Horizon League named Wright State junior Chelsea Welch its women’s basketball player of the week on Monday.

A guard from Fairmont High School, Welch scored a total of 57 points while grabbing 14 rebounds and handing out six assists in a pair of wins last week.

She also shot 56 percent from the field as the Raiders beat Detroit and Oakland to extend their winning streak to eight games.

Welch is fourth in the HL in scoring this season at 18.0 points per game.

WSU has won 13 of its past 14 games and is 9-1 in HL play.
