Meals start at $20.25 and $1 from every meal sold will be donated to a nonprofit.
I went to a sneak peek event featuring 12 of the participating restaurants and here’s what I experienced:
In the category of soups, chowders and chilis, my favorite was the house made chili served with cornbread from CBCB (Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers) Bar & Grill. It has a nice kick and is the perfect dish to warm you up on a cold day. During restaurant week, CBCB will offer soup or chili, salad and a drink for $10.99 at lunch.

For entrees, I had several favorites including:
- Grilled beer-marinated pork chop served over mashed potatoes from Dewberry 1850
- Pulled braised beef sliders from Crooked Handle Brewing Co.
- Buffalo chicken taco from Condado Tacos

If I had to pick one, I would choose the braised beef slider from Crooked Handle. The brewery is offering a three-course meal for $20.25 with choice of potato soup or salad to start, followed by loaded macaroni and cheese and your choice of a Cuban or pulled braised beef sandwich.

There were several desserts served such as house made cheesecake from All the Best, baklava from Greek Street, bread pudding from Amber Rose and a chocolate tart from Coco’s Bistro. I’m a chocolate lover at heart, so my favorite was the chocolate tart.
Coco’s Bistro is offering a three-course meal featuring your choice of cabbage salad or cream of mushroom soup to start, followed by gumbo, strip steak or risotto, and the chocolate tart or pear galette for dessert.
Aiming for something new, many restaurants will offer a lunch deal during restaurant week.

New speakeasy to open in West Carrollton

Whisperz Speakeasy, a prohibition-era style cocktail lounge, is opening its doors Feb. 14 in West Carrollton.
The lounge is located at 926 Watertower Lane near Miami Valley Sports Bar. Guests must be 25 and up to enter.
Reach back in time to the Roaring Twenties with “stunning chandeliers, stylish credenzas, and sophisticated furnishings sourced globally and all thoughtfully curated to embody the essence of the speakeasy period,” a press release from the lounge said.
The lounge will feature handcrafted cocktails and small plates in a cozy space perfect for catch-ups or intimate gatherings. A password is required for entry and will be available on the speakeasy’s website.
Guests are encouraged to wear business casual to evening elegance with athletic wear, jeans and baseball caps strongly discouraged.
Whisperz Speakeasy will be open 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations are not required.
Centerville woman creates social dining club
With a love for meeting people and trying new restaurants, Hali Abner Robinaugh of Centerville is creating a social dining club for women.
Abner, who is originally from Cleveland, but moved to Cincinnati in the late 1980s, previously hosted a brunch group and supper club in Cincinnati. She moved to Centerville in October 2023 and last year, married her husband, Bob, who has lived in the area for over 30 years.
“I feel like the town is so big and there’s so many great places to go eat, but nobody knows about them,” Abner said. “My husband and I started about four or five months ago mystery date night. We wouldn’t tell each other where we were going and we would pick a spot and go somewhere where neither of us has ever been.”
After finding more and more places they have never been before, she knew she wanted to create a group to go explore these establishments.
The first event is 5-7:30 p.m. tonight at Chappys Social House in Washington Twp.
The plan is to have those in attendance choose a group name, order drinks and/or food on separate checks, socialize and contribute $1-$5 for a group tip. The group tip will be presented to the server at 6 p.m.
If you can’t make it to Chappys, the next event will be 5-7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Loose Ends Brewing in Centerville.
4 food vendors officially open at The Silos in Dayton

The Silos, a new food hall and beer garden near 2nd Street Market in downtown Dayton has had its official grand opening and is welcoming patrons now.
Here’s a look at the four food vendors:
- The Burger Bistro by Cece’s Kitchen offers a new spin on classic burgers and sandwiches.
- Indigo, a concept by Ordinarie Fare, features seasonal farm-to-table salads, grain bowls, West-Coast inspired burritos and a line of herbal “elixirs.”
- KungFu BBQ, a family-owned and operated concept with influence from the Philippines, Japan, Mexico and Hawaii, serves worldly-inspired cuisine with a unique smoked interpretation.
- Nood Bar, a new concept by Chef Dane Shipp, serves authentic Asian-inspired noodle dishes with an assortment of bao buns and dumplings.
In addition to all four food vendors being open, the bar has launched its signature cocktail menu.
The Silos, located at 810 E. First St., are open 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. The food vendors will be closed on Mondays to prep, but the bar will be open.
The food hall is a family friendly space. Free street parking is available on Meige, Taylor, East First, Pond and East Second streets.

Changes coming soon to Carillon Brewing Co.

Carillon Brewing Co. is teaming up with Dayton Barbecue Company for the rebirth of its food program with local chef Ashley Ashbrook at the reins.
“So much of Carillon Park is celebrating entrepreneurs,” said Brady Kress, president and CEO of Dayton History. “Here’s an opportunity for us to not only carry on this trade tradition and educate the community about these early processes, but we can invest, support, help and partner with local entrepreneurs.”
Customers can expect some of their favorite dishes from Dayton Barbecue Company such as meat platters with pulled pork and brisket, smoked fried wings, salads and the “Smoked Stack,” a double patty burger with brisket, pulled pork, house made pickles and red onions.
They’re also planning to have sausages made locally that will be served on buns from Dorothy Lane Market. All sauces and dressings will be made from scratch.
For dessert, they will serve a smoked apple bread pudding with a butterscotch topping.
Carillon Brewing Co. will reopen on Feb. 12 with a soft opening after being closed since early January. A grand opening is planned for March 17 where the brewery will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

I tried the limited-edition Graeter’s Skyline Spice ice cream

Graeter’s released its latest ice cream flavor collaboration Monday with Skyline Chili and I stopped by my local scoop shop to try it out.
“Skyline Spice with Oyster Crackers” features Skyline’s signature spice mix with crunchy oyster crackers.
I was expecting a chili-inspired ice cream of some sorts, but instead got a spiced ice cream giving cozy vibes.
Skyline Spice with Oyster Crackers reminded me of a slice of pumpkin pie. The ice cream itself tasted like cinnamon and nutmeg with the oyster crackers giving a salty taste similar to a pie crust, but crunchier.
These flavors worked together and I will definitely finish the pint! A pint of this limited edition ice cream flavor costs $6.99.
It’s available in all scoop shops, participating Skyline Chili restaurants, select Midwest Kroger locations and online for nationwide shipping.
