How the Bengals can clinch a playoff berth Sunday

The Bengals are one of three teams that can clinch a playoff berth Sunday.

But unlike the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers, the Bengals can only clinch a postseason berth and a not a division title.

Regardless of what happens int he Bengals-Browns game Sunday afternoon and the Steelers-Colts game Sunday night, the Bengals can clinch the AFC North Division championship with a win against Pittsburgh the following Sunday.

In addition to beating the Browns, the Bengals need several other things to happen this weekend to clinch their fifth consecutive playoff berth and sixth in the last seven seasons.

Here's the rundown:

Bengals win AND Houston loses or ties at Buffalo AND Indianapolis loses or ties vs. Pittsburgh AND the New York Jets lose against the New York Giants as long as the Colts and Texans don't both tie.

Got all that?

Good. There's one more scenario to memorize:

Bengals win AND Houston loses or ties AND Indianapolis loses or ties AND Denver wins or ties at San Diego AND Kansas City loses at Oakland as long as the Colts and Texans don't both tie.

If your reaction is "wake me when it's official," well, who could blame you?
