Ohio State football players took time away from the last week of practice for another rite of spring: the awarding of gold pants charms for beating Michigan.

Jim Lachey of St. Henry and Piqua native Matt Finkes are among those shown helping hand out the prized possessions, a tradition started after coach Francis Schmidt famously told reporters Michigan players put their pants on the same way his team did.

The Wolverines had dominated the series prior to Schmidt's arrival in 1934, but his first four Buckeye teams ran off the first four-game winning streak by Ohio State in the series.

This week J.T. Barrett was among those to receive his fourth pair of gold pants while Pat Elflein joined the even more exclusive club of players with five victories over the Wolverines.
