While Gabbard was still officially in the race, and on the ballot, the Hawaii Democrat had been doing few campaign events in recent weeks.
Gabbard's decision leaves only Sen. Bernie Sanders - who is not a member of the Democratic Party - as a major candidate against Biden.
Sanders was said to be assessing his campaign, after Biden easily won Arizona, Florida, and Illinois on Tuesday, extending his delegate lead in the Democratic race.
