But Spicer then added in a bit of a curve ball, by saying reporters should make the choice.
"The way that we can avoid scrutiny is to let the press corps determine where it should (be donated)," as reporters in the White House briefing room laughed - but Spicer said he was serious.
One reporter suggested diverting the President's donation to a journalism scholarship backed by the White House Correspondents Association.
The answers from Spicer came today after major news organizations had been pressing the White House for details about Mr. Trump's salary, and where it was going.
Mr. Trump had said he would not accept the $400,000 salary, and would instead give it to charity.
