Apple sets opening date for new store at The Greene

Apple Inc. announced on its website that a grand opening of its store at 51 Plum St. at The Greene will be held at 10 a.m. this Saturday, July 19.

A spokeswoman for Apple could not be reached this morning. Kelli Kooken, marketing director for The Greene, said Apple typically gives away T-shirts to the first 1,000 people to visit the store on opening day, but Kooken said she didn’t have confirmation or details about such a giveaway.

Apple first posted job openings for retail positions in the Dayton area in February, but kept details about the store and its whereabouts mum. Mac Town, a retail and repair outlet for Apple products, closed its store at The Greene March 31. Signs for an Apple store at The Greene emerged in early June.

The company listed hours for its new store at The Greene as 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

There are six Apple stores in Ohio, including two in the Columbus area and one at the Kenwood Towne Center located in Cincinnati.
