Meijer said Tuesday it has partnered with Shipt, an app-based personal shopping company, to bring home delivery service to customers across the Miami Valley.

Shipt shoppers will deliver to more than 415,000 households in a 2,100 square-mile service area, an area encompassing Miamisburg, Middletown, Lebanon, Huber Heights, Englewood, Springfield and Troy, Meijer said in its release.

Meijer is launching the service in Cincinnati Tuesday and will continue to roll it out to markets across the Midwest this year.

Customers can sign up for Shipt and shop online for 55,000 groceries and other items.

Meijer customers can sign up for annual or monthly Shipt memberships. Annual memberships are $99 a year and monthly memberships are $14 per month. For a limited-time, new members will also receive $25 off their first order. Delivery is free for orders over $35; a flat $7 delivery fee is added to any orders under $35.

According to Shipt, prices also vary for individual delivered items. Shipt prices will “vary slightly from in-store prices” to cover what the business calls the costs of picking, packing and processing, the app says on its web site.

“Our members can expect to pay about $5 more using Shipt than they would on a $35 order purchased in the store themselves,” the app’s web site says.
