A Dayton-area university expects to set a new record for the number of freshmen arriving on campus later this month.

Cedarville University, a Baptist college located 27 miles northeast of Dayton, expects more than 1,000 first-year students to arrive Friday. It will mark the largest incoming class in the university’s history and it comes on the heels of last year’s record 911-student freshman class, according to the school.

The potentially record-setting freshmen class would also mean the university would achieve record enrollment for the 13th year in a row, according to the school. Cedarville has around 4,193 total students enrolled.

The university’s recent growth has spurred it to expand its campus.

A new 282-bed residence hall is being built as are a Chick-Fil-A location and a civil engineering building on campus. Each project is on track to be completed by the fall of 2020.
