New restaurant opens 1st Dayton-area location at Austin Landing

A health-focused restaurant concept known for its fruit- and veggie-based bowls and smoothies opened its first Dayton-area location, and only the second in Ohio, on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Austin Landing development in southern Montgomery County.

Frutta Bowls is a restaurant concept that began just two years ago in New Jersey and has spread to a dozen states. The restaurant chain opened its first Ohio location earlier this year in Deerfield Towne Center in southern Warren County.

Frutta Bowls is located at 3609 Rigby Road, in 1,400 square feet of leased space in the Progress Park Office Tower. Winter hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Shelly Mayo-Mitchell, owner and operator of the Frutta Bowls’ franchise location, said Austin Landing “is a great location for Frutta Bowls, as it is a prime location for activities and dining.”

“I’m excited to bring Frutta Bowls to my hometown of Dayton,” said Mayo-Mitchell, a graduate of Trotwood-Madison High School who also was previously stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. . “I look forward to connecting with the community.”

Frutta Bowls offers bowls with a base of acai, pitaya or kale. The chain also offers oatmeal bowls and smoothies, as well as protein balls, kombucha tea, and grab-and-go items.
