GE investments total $4B in U.S. in 5 years

Evendale-headquartered GE Aviation announced its investments in U.S. operations have exceeded $4 billion in a five-year period.

With a record production of jet engines, engine components and aircraft systems, the company’s investments have reached $4.3 billion since 2011. Another $1.1 billion was invested in international sites.

GE Aviation is Ohio’s largest manufacturing employer, according to state records. GE anchors an aerospace parts manufacturing industry that employs thousands in the region, including two locations in Dayton.

The investments helped to establish five new plants in Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina and Indiana — totaling about two million square feet of new manufacturing floor space is being created.

The company is a leader in advancing additive manufacturing, and has created an “Additive Development Center” in northern Cincinnati. GE Aviation employs 44,6000 employees at 85 sites worldwide, 25,000 of those are U.S. employees.
