Restaurants and bars have been hard hit as they have been forced to close to dine-in customers because of the coronavirus pandemic.

With that in mind, Buckeye Vodka has created a contest to help support bartenders, while at the same time marketing its product.

The contest — “An Outpouring of Love” — ends at 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, with winners announced on Friday, May 15.

Bartenders will compete by region for prizes adding up to $4,500 to be divided among the winners. Regions competing are Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Toledo, Akron and Dayton.

Any bartender who has lost his or her job in the past three months is eligible. They need to create a video with an original Buckeye Vodka recipe and upload it to their social media accounts tagging @BuckeyeVodka, their prior establishment and the hashtag #BVBartender.

Non-bartenders can get in on the contest by entering to win different non-cash prizes like gift baskets, by uploading an amateur drink video to their personal Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram account, tagging @BuckeyeVodka and using the hashtag #BVFan.

They can also like and comment on different bartenders’ videos. Each like and comment will mean an additional $1 donated by Buckeye Vodka, with up to a $3,000 value to go back to bartenders.

The videos will be judged based on originality of the cocktail, creativity and personality of the bartender.
