The branding will include a refreshed township logo, which is 20 years old. The township also will redo its website, develop a new name and logo for the business district, and work on communication strategies for the entire township.

“We anticipate the new materials to highlight the township’s distinctive character which balances the best attributes of rural small-town living with the vitality and energy of an urbanized business district,” said Erika Vogel, township administrator.
When the business district is finished, the township will look to do some improvements to incorporate the theme of Butler Twp.
The business district in Butler Twp. is the Miller Lane area that includes all the restaurants, hotels and shopping. Catapult Creative is still in early stages of branding work, but name options are close to being finalizing.
“This area has never really been given a unifying visual brand,” said Matthew Sliver, president and CEO of Catapult. “In doing so we aim to draw traffic from visitors and Dayton-area residents alike through a consistent district-wide identity that evokes modernity, confidence and welcoming.”
The new website development will incorporate the new branding with a more user-friendly approach, and the format will easily adapt to any device. The current website does not currently do this.
“The experience will all be far more streamlined for users to more easily find what they’re looking for,” Sliver said. “The website will also be far easier for city administrators to keep up to date, which will make the new website a far more useful tool for engaging with the community.”
The website will also include many tech-enhanced services such as online trash payments and zoning permits.
“We are very excited to implement all these new features for our residents,” Vogel said.
The new township logo will keep similar aspects of the old logo that include the circle, the path/river way, sun and the word Butler large and centered, but Catapult seeks to give it a more modern look that is easy to reproduce for other township purposes, according to Sliver.
Other new elements to the logo will help tie into how Butler Twp. gives residents the experience of suburban, urban and rural living.
The township requested proposals in the spring and selected Catapult Creative, based in downtown Dayton, for their branding initiatives and website design. The administrative team and elected officials will work with Catapult on the project and provide input.
The branding process started about a month ago, and Vogel hopes to have the projects completed and launched by the end of the year.
“When we see communities take pride in their neighborhood, or city, or district, and unify under a common shared identity, it makes what we do feel very worthwhile,” Sliver said.
