CareSource, a nonprofit Dayton-based Medicaid managed care provider and commercial health insurer, finished 2016 on a high note, posting year-end revenue of $7.2 billion, up about 4 percent from 2015, the company said Friday.

The company also boosted its Dayton-based workforce by nearly 16 percent to 2,200 from 1,900 last year. The company finished the year with a total workforce of 3,100, up from 2,700 in 2015.

CareSource, which is planning to build a new six-story office tower downtown to accommodate explosive growth in recent years, offers health coverage to more than 1.6 million members across four states, including offerings on the federal Health Insurance Marketplace and Medicare Advantage plans.
