CareSource has acquired two downtown parking lots near the site of the company’s planned new seven-story office building at the corner of First and Jefferson streets, the company confirmed Thursday.

On Wednesday, CareSource finalized the purchase of the lot at 131-133 E. Second St. for $195,000, according to a spokeswoman for the downtown Dayton-based Medicaid managed care provider and commercial health insurer. The company has also agreed to lease the lot at the corner of Second Street and N. St. Clair Street downtown, she said.

The parking lots will be used for construction staging and to allow for access to the rear loading dock of the new building to be known as CareSource Center City.

CareSource, downtown’s biggest employer, has about 2,100 employees in four different buildings downtown and will consolidate many of those employees in the new building.
