CareSource to establish new call center in Indiana

CareSource, a downtown Dayton-based nonprofit health insurer, has partnered with Xerox to establish a new call center in Indianapolis to handle customer care for new CareSource members who sign up for health coverage through the state’s health insurance marketplace.

Financial terms of the two-year contract with Xerox were not disclosed, but company officials said Xerox will hire and employ approximately 200 Indiana residents, manage the call center, and train the staff to support new work from CareSource.

“These are new jobs that are being created in Indiana and are part of CareSource’s strategy to grow its presence nationwide,” CareSource said in a statement. “It is important to create local jobs in the states where we serve members for business continuity. Our headquarters will continue to be in Dayton, Ohio, and that will be our base of operations.”

Primarily a Medicaid managed care company, CareSource expects to add 10,000 new members in Indiana through the marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act.

“CareSource has a 25-year history of mission-focused customer service, so we selected Xerox because of their expertise in customer care to provide us with a strong presence in Indiana,” said President and CEO Pam Morris. “This customer care call center will help us continue to serve more Indiana residents through our CareSource Just4Me product.”

Call center agents working for Xerox, which operates call centers for several companies, will handle a wide range of member and provider inquiries, including ID card requests, coordination of benefits education, eligibility inquiries, and premium payment processing for the CareSource’s Just4Me marketplace product line.

CareSource, which enrolled more than 30,000 Ohioans in marketplace plans this year, began signing new members in Kentucky and Indiana for the first time this month. The company established a small office in Indianapolis earlier this year ahead of the roll-out of its marketplace products in Indiana.
