Initially the local chocolate and coffee chain looked at Bechtle Avenue for their first Clark County location, but opted for the North Fountain Avenue store instead, in part because of improvements they saw happening downtown.
“We hope Winans can help to bring new faces downtown and people can see the progress downtown is making and all the new things it has to offer,” said Chandi Shah, the Springfield Winans’ co-owner.

The business, based in Piqua, has been in the same family for four generations, according to the company’s website. It began franchising in 2003, and also has locations at German Village in Columbus, Maineville, Beavercreek and the Dayton Mall.
The space in Springfield was most recently occupied by the Hub Gallery, which showcased local artwork.
