To date, Cinemark has constructed 137 XD auditoriums worldwide. The Cinemark XD auditorium at the Dayton South theater will be the first in the Dayton market, officials said.
The upgrades also will include a complete lobby and concession stand remodel.
“When completed, the newly renovated Dayton South theater will offer our guests the newest technology and latest amenities,” said Tim Warner, Cinemark’s chief executive, in a statement.
Officials said the theater will remain open for business during the remodel, and the renovation process is expected to be completed in time for the 2014 summer movie season.
Texas-based Cinemark completed the acquisition of 32 Rave theaters representing 483 screens in May, Warner said. The company operates theaters in Beavercreek, Huber Heights, Piqua and West Carrollton.
Cinemark, the nation’s third-largest theater chain, operates 504 theaters with 5,794 screens in 40 U.S. states, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and 10 other Latin American countries as of June 30.
