Tornado-damaged hotel property near I-75 to be razed

A limited liability company has applied for demolition work at the former hotel on Wagner Ford Road off Interstate 75 that was damaged by a Memorial Day tornado.

Dayton Fun Hotels LLC has applied to Montgomery County for demolition work at 2301 Wagner Ford.

The building in the past has been a Holiday Inn and a Ramada Plaza. Before its closure, it had been branded since 2016 as The Dayton Hotel. The site had more than 230 rooms, a pool and banquet rooms.

The structure was damaged in the series of tornadoes that tore through the Dayton region on Memorial Day weekend.

Wichita, Kansas-based MK Hospitality Inc., a professional hotel management and acquisition company, bought the property for $1.8 million in 2016.

Navin Makan, chief executive of M.K. Hospitality, told the Dayton Daily News in May 2016 that he planed to invest “at least” $3 million to $4 million in renovations there.
