The event will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 21.
During last year’s inaugural buyback, the county collected more than 15,000 tires, weighing 180 tons. About 1,600 vehicles delivered the tires, Montgomery County Environmental Services said.
The buyback is meant to prevent piles of dumped scrap tires from becoming a health and safety hazard.
“Last year’s event was a dramatic success,” Montgomery County Commission President Dan Foley said Tuesday. “Our residents cleaned up their neighborhoods, and we saw a reduction in the amount of scrap tires that had to be removed from illegal dump sites.”
