Dayton Progress Corp. to be acquired by Misumi Group

A Dayton manufacturer of precision tooling will be acquired by a Japanese corporation, company officials announced Wednesday.

Misumi Group Inc. of Japan has signed an agreement to acquire West Carrollton-based Dayton Progress Corp. and its subsidiary, PCS Company, from Connell Limited Partnership, pending regulatory approval.

The acquisition, expected to close in November, also will include Connell’s Anchor Lamia Components business, known for its Danly, IEM, Lempco and Lamina brands.

Dayton Progress Corp. has 10 factories and 1,000 employees worldwide, including 500 local workers. The company manufactures precision tooling for metal stamping and forming.

“Ownership by MISUMI is a great thing for our company and for customers and distributors of Dayton Progress and Anchor Lamina,” said Alan Shaffer, Dayton Progress’ president and chief executive, in a statement.

“MISUMI brings additional products, global supply chain resources and relationships with global OEMs and is a very complementary fit with Dayton and Anchor Lamina’s strength in products, service and distribution channels,” Shaffer said.
