Another furniture company is using an “augmented reality” (AR) app designed by a Dayton-area software creator to help sell its wares.

Jerome’s Furniture, based in San Diego, is using a Marxent “3D augmented reality app” to enable virtual room planning for customers.

The room designer app was created by Marxent, which has offices at Austin Landing and in Florida.

“The app is a perfect extension of our customer promise,” Brian Woods, chief executive for Jerome’s Furniture, said in a release. “Engaging our customers before, during and after the buying process ensures we exceed their expectations.”

The app lets customers see if furniture will fit within their color scheme, space and functional needs, the furniture company said.

“It’s great to be working with a well-loved regional furniture retailer that values innovation and customer experience,” Beck Besecker, Marxent’s CEO and co-founder, said in the same statement. “Jerome’s approachable and caring mindset made them the perfect partner for us.”

Marxent has also enjoyed a partnership with a larger retailer, Macy’s Inc., in which customers can experience Marxent 3D Cloud and VR (virtual reality) technology in any of 60-plus Macy’s stores nationwide.
