Downtown Dayton store closing after 28 years

DAYTON — Cachet G!, a clothing and jewelry store that has operated in the 100 block of East Third Street in downtown Dayton for 28 years, is closing its doors Saturday.

Cachet G! founder and owner Gaile McLemore said this afternoon that she is seeking to reopen elsewhere. But a relocation won’t happen soon, and she has not yet selected a location, McLemore said. Two part-time employees will be affected by the store closing.

McLemore said she was “not offered a lease” to continue at her current location at 133 E. Third St., where she has operated for 15 years. The shop was founded at 137 E. Third St. and operated for 13 years there before moving two doors away.

A “going out of business” sale is underway, and prices on the store’s items are up to 70 percent off, excluding jewelry and cosmetics, McLemore said.

She would like to reopen in downtown Dayton, but will not limit her search to downtown locations, she said. “I feel confident things are going to work out,” McLemore said.
