Oakwood natives open 5th restaurant

Fusian, the sushi-roll chain launched by three Oakwood natives, will open its fifth restaurant on Monday at 8060 Montgomery Road just east of the Kenwood Towne Center.

Fusian operates two Cincinnati-area restaurants, including a location in the Hyde Park Plaza that opened five months ago. Fusian opened its first restaurant in Cincinnati’s Tower Place Mall in May 2010, and opened its first Dayton-area restaurant in October 2011 at 1200 Brown St. near the University of Dayton.

The sushi chain will open its second Dayton-area location in 2015 at McEwen Road and Miamisburg-Centerville Road (Ohio 725) in Washington Twp. in the same retail center that will house the region’s first Whole Foods store. There is also a Fusian near the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus.

Fusian is owned by Zach Weprin and his brother Josh Weprin, along with Stephan Harman, all of whom attended elementary school together in Oakwood.

The newest Fusian will open at 11 a.m. March 31., and in a partnership with Cincinnati Public Schools, will donate the proceeds from its first day to the school district’s student wellness initiatives, Fusian’s founders said in a news release.

Fusian offers made-to-order sushi rolls in a service style similar to Chipotle.
