The Bon-Ton Stores Inc., parent company of Elder-Beerman department stores, is set to host a hiring event later this week.

All stores — including Elder-Beerman, Boston Store, Caron’s, Bergner’s, and Yonkers stores — will host a holiday hiring event on Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Applicants can apply online or stop by any store.

In September, the company announced it is hiring for 13,000 positions before the holiday season. Bon-Ton is also looking to hire an additional 500 additional employees for its distribution centers and its e-commerce fulfillment center.

“Bon-Ton plans to increase our staffing for the holiday season so we can provide an exceptional shopping experience to our customers,” said Bill Tracy, chief operating officer. “Hiring additional staffing will ensure we deliver fast, friendly service and meet customer expectations in our stores as well as online.”

All positions include an immediate 20 percent shopping discount, one-on-one training, and an opportunity to transition to full-time and part-time positions when the season ends, according to a statement from the company.
