LongHorn Steakhouse spokeswoman Erica Jaeger said LongHorn “continues to explore sites in the Dayton area. At this point, we can’t confirm an exact location given we’re in the very early stage of development in this market.”
New LongHorn restaurants employ 80 to 100 people, Jaeger said. They seat about 240 and are 6,300 square feet. LongHorn also operates restaurants in Moraine and Beavercreek, as well as in the West Chester area.
Rich Hopkins, communications manager for the city of Vandalia, said city officials have been in discussions with LongHorn Steakhouse officials for three to four weeks.
“We’ve known for a while they’re genuinely interested in this area,” Hopkins said. Vandalia officials haven’t received anything official from company officials confirming the site at Miller Lane and Benchwood, “but we’re encouraged” by the filing of the liquor-license application, the Vandalia spokesman said.
Construction of a new restaurant at the intersection just south of Miller Lane’s restaurant row may help spur additional expansion of Miller Lane’s dining footprint, Hopkins said.
Butler Twp. officials said the company made inquiries a few weeks ago about the former Lone Star steakhouse location at 6868 Miller Lane, but there have been no recent discussions about that site.
LongHorn Steakhouse is part of the Darden restaurant group that also includes the Olive Garden and Red Lobster chains, among others.
