An ice cream shop in Fairborn will open just in time for the Fourth of July.

Jubie’s Creamery will open at 471 W. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road July 3 from 4-10 p.m., said Julie Domicone, who is opening the shop with her parents.

Domicone’s parents bought the property while she worked at a different ice cream shop in high school. The family wondered what to do with the property for years before settling on an ice cream shop.

“It kind of turned from a joke we had to something where we were like, ‘oh, we could actually do this,’” she said.

Domicone said the shop will serve a variety of frozen desserts and 32 ice cream flavors, including dairy-free options and a sugar free vanilla flavor. The shop will carry two kinds of ice cream: a frozen custard similar to soft serve, but richer, and hand-dipped hard ice cream. The hard ice cream is made in-house, and the frozen custard is locally sourced.

Customers can choose from traditional ice cream offerings such as sundaes, milkshakes and cones and create their own custom ice cream sandwiches.

Domicone said the family wanted to include both classic and unique flavors. One seasonal flavor, a peach ice cream with graham cracker swirl, called “millions of peaches,”is named for the lyric in the song “Peaches” by Presidents of the United States, a family favorite song. A flavor with blue moon ice cream, raspberry swirl and white chocolate chips, is named “shark bite” to honor Discovery Channel’s Shark Week.
