Flight school to open branch at Warren County Airport

Beaver Valley Aviation opened a new training branch at the Warren County Airport today and hired a new part-time flight instructor, the company owner said.

Larry Sidle, Beaver Valley Aviation CEO, said this is the first branch opened by the school since it moved from Greene County to the city of Moraine about a year ago.

“One of my instructors had his personal airplane down at the Warren County Airport for maintenance, and the maintenance guy came over and said, ‘hey we don’t have a flight school,’” Sidle said. “So we’re opening up a flight school.”

Sidle said lessons will begin as soon as the instructor airplane arrives at the airport today. There will be two part-time instructors at the Warren County branch.

"But there's another guy who has his instructor's license at Warren County who is interested in part-time work. We'll grow from there," Sidle said.

The price for lessons is $112 per hour for use of aircraft and $33 per hour for instruction. Fixed-base operating hours at the Warren County Airport are 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Business at the flight school in Moraine has been growing, and is expected to flourish in Warren County as well, Sidle said.

“I think the interest and the demographic is there,” Sidle said. “I think we’ll do good down there.”
