A shaved-ice food truck company is moving to a new Vandalia home, where they plan to grow their business.

Allen and Sarah Lay, husband and wife business owners, operate Kona Shaved Ice trucks in North Dayton, Greenville, Urbana, Troy, Piqua and Sidney. They are moving to Vandalia from a facility in Troy. The business currently has 15 employees and the owners plan to expand to 20 in the near future.

“We are committed to growing the business and this new space will help us do just that. From bringing on more employees to adding new equipment, owning this building will give us permanent space with room for growth,” Sarah Lay said in a statement.

Tim Echemann, with Industrial Property Brokers, who represented the business owners, said the property was formerly operated as a Siemens Transmission Automotive repair shop for about three decades and the new owners are anticipating occupying the building by June 1.

Their new building is at 3888 Lightner Road in Vandalia.
