Frisch's Big Boy celebrates National Tartar Sauce Day

Frisch’s is celebrating National Tartar Sauce Day by giving away 500 jars of its original sauce.

To celebrate the day, Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley declared today “Frisch’s Tartar Sauce Day” in the city. The iconic sauce has been sold and slathered on sandwiches for the past 71, and Frisch’s estimated it has produced more than 1.7 million gallons of tartar sauce since its creation.

So what do people pair with the tangy sauce? It’s popular on fried fish sandwiches, and 42 percent of customers also love to dip their fries in it. Other customers ate it with onion rings, chicken ringers and even in vegetable soup.

The restaurant chain has locations across the Miami Valley, Springfield and Cincinnati. Frisch’s operates 95 Big Boy restaurants and franchises another 25 restaurants to independent operators in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
