Furniture chain opening Dayton-area store

Bob’s Discount Furniture opened its first store in the Dayton area this week.

The new store is at 2859 Miamisburg Centerville Road, where Toys “R” Us closed over a year ago.

This will be the first Ohio location for the Manchester, Connecticut-headquartered company.

Plans for the new store were first announced in October.

“We noticed a demand in the market for a unique shopping experience that provides a wide variety of quality furnishings – including living room furniture, bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, office furniture and home accents – at everyday low prices,” a spokesman previously said.

There are 124 other stores and 22 outlet locations in 18 states.

Another furniture store, Fairfield-based Furniture Fair opened in November in the former Beavercreek Toys “R” Us.

Furniture stores have been expanding in recent months in the Dayton area.

Big Sandy Superstore recently opened by the Dayton Mall in the former Elder-Beerman Furniture store.

Indiana-based The Room Place is also opening stores at the Dayton Mall and Mall at Fairfield Commons.
