Premier previously said Good Samaritan will close no later than Aug. 29. A final closing date has not been set and inpatient operations will still be winding down after the emergency department closes.

About 1,600 employees work at the main campus that is closing, though Premier has said they will be offered positions at other locations in the health system, including Miami Valley Hospital.
Premier officials have said the decision to close the hospital was a difficult but necessary decision since it can’t justify operating two hospitals with low occupancies that are about five miles apart.
City officials and residents have spoke out against the closure, including concern about how the loss will affect the economy and health outcomes of the surrounding area.

A group of clergy filed a civil rights complaint over the planned closure, which has a disproportionately black service area. Good Samaritan is the closest hospital for 38,600 people in the area — 75 percent of them African American.
Grandview Medical Center, about two and a half miles away, is nearest emergency department to Good Samaritan. Grandview, operated by Premier's competitor Kettering Health Network, is in the midst of a $25 million expansion of its emergency department in anticipation of more patients after Good Samaritan closes.
